Faculty Formation Year One.
Being an Ignatian Educator.
The teacher formation program at Saint Peter’s Prep is very deliberate, and plays a vital role in maintaining the school’s Jesuit identity. The program exposes teachers to various levels of Ignatian spirituality and types of Ignatian prayer. At the same time, it introduces Ignatian ways of teaching, particularly the IPP. The three-year cycle program includes opportunities for all teachers - those new to the profession as well as veterans, Catholic and non-Catholic alike. It is tailored as close to the individual faith experience of the person, which is a hallmark of Ignatian spirituality and of apostolic cura personalis (care of the person as an individual creation of God). Methods include faculty retreats, mission workshops, reading assignments, and fellowship opportunities
Successful participation in the program would be part of each person's plan of professional growth and plays an important role in contractual relationships. After five years of receiving one-year contracts, teachers are offered five-year contracts, which are based heavily on their progress in their plans and related evaluations.( Taken from Fr.R.Reiser SJ)
