Q: How can I apply for a scholarship?
A: As long as Saint Peter’s Prep is listed as a choice (Prep does not have to be the first choice) on his COOP Exam, a young man is automatically eligible for an academic scholarship. If the applicant meets our required cutoff, has good grades and a positive teacher recommendation, he will be notified with his acceptance letter that he has received a scholarship.

Q: What if we can’t make it to the Open House?
A: If you are in the eighth grade and can’t make it to the Fall Open House, schedule a Freshman For a Day visit. It will give you the experience of a real school day at Prep.

If you are still in the seventh grade, there will be another Open House in the spring or in the fall of eighth grade.

Q: Do we have to wait until we get the acceptance letter to apply for financial aid?
A: No. For the Class of 2019, you should file the financial aid application by November 29 2014. Families filing by November 29 will receive the financial aid decision with the acceptance letter, sent on January 15, 2015.

Q: When should we schedule a Freshman for a Day visit?
A: Freshman For a Day visits run from Mid-September until registration day in February. If you are not sure that Prep is one of your top three choices, you should try to spend a day with us before the COOP Exam in November. If you are certain that Saint Peter’s is one of your choices, then you need to schedule your visit before registration in February.

Q: Can seventh graders come in for Freshman for a Day?
A: Only eighth graders can spend a day at Prep. It is more important for a young man in eighth grade to have a chance to visit, so we reserve our open spots for them. It is also wiser to make the visit in eighth grade when a student is closer to making his high school decision.  Seventh graders are strongly encouraged to attend the Spring Open House.

Q: Does Prep offer bus service?
A: No, but Saint Peter’s Prep is easily accessible by public transportation. The school is a short walk from the Grove Street and Exchange Place PATH stations, the downtown Hudson-Bergen Light Rail stops and numerous local bus stops. Prep has found that students prefer the flexibility of mass transit, which gives them more freedom to pursue after-school activities without the fear of missing a school bus or their ride.
