Upon This Rock: Prep Rebuilds

"And I say to you, that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church..."
– Matthew 16:18

Saint Peter's Prep has spent 140 years building a tradition of academic excellence, Ignatian spiritual development and life-changing opportunity at the corner of Grand & Warren – something bigger and stronger than even the fiercest forces of nature. As we work to rebuild and renew our campus in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, we know that this tradition will be the rock upon which we rebuild – just as Saint Peter was the rock upon which Jesus built his Church.

Prep was very fortunate in that the floodwaters that damaged Keenan Field and rose in the basements of the west campus left the Humanities Building and the Memorial Gymnasium unscathed. And so, in a very real way, these storied structures of brick and mortar are the rock upon which we rebuild the daily work of Jesuit education even as repairs are underway across Warren Street.

And as life gradually returns to normal, we at Prep know that we are further blessed to have the generous support of our alumni, parents and friends. The work is already well underway as an army of engineers and contractors continue to make progress hour-by-hour, repairing walls and floors, replacing damaged utility and classroom equipment, and restoring mechanical services. The repair work is complex and best left to the professionals. But you can stand with the recovery workers, as well as with our dedicated faculty, staff and administration, by making a secure, tax-deductible contribution to one of two crucial efforts:

By contributing to The Annual Fund, you can have an immediate impact in the lives of our students and teachers, helping to fulfill the life-changing promise of a Jesuit education. The Annual Fund has always been a vital source of support for Prep's mission, and now more than ever, your help in financing our day-to-day operation can help shape our students' future!
The Superstorm Sandy Recovery Fund is your opportunity to help us cover the cost of repairs to our physical plant. While insurance and other emergency funding will go a long way in effecting these repairs, a full recovery is currently projected to cost up to an additional $500,000. With your help, the classrooms, arts and athletic facilities that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy will once again be the setting for the Prep moments that shape lives.  If would like your gift directed to a specific part of the recovery, please designate that in the "In Honor of" field.
