As is the case with most Jesuit schools, Prep often relies on the advice and counsel of alumni in various professional fields when it comes to issues of significance. The development of Prep’s master plan is a case in point.
In addition to the oversight of the process provided by Board Chairman Bill Ahearn, '75, President Bob Reiser, S.J., and Vice President Jim Horan, ’70, Prep’s core group of advisors includes Paul Schaetzle, '71, chair of the board’s master planning committee, as well as four other alumni with significant experience in construction planning: former trustees Jack Caulfield, '71, Joe Cooney, ’45, Tom Leane, ’65 and Tom McGinty, ’71. Also, the broader master planning committee of the board of trustees meets quarterly to review the progress to date and provide insights and direction.
Executing the actual master planning process is the Manhattan architectural firm of Beyer Blinder Belle, which came to the project in the spring of 2007 with deep experience in historic preservation projects, ranging from Ellis Island and Grand Central Terminal to various colleges and secondary schools.
