- Your Gift to Prep
Donating a gift for our auction is a great way to support the Gala and help make the evening truly special for our guests and truly successful for Prep's financial assistance program. The more items we have up for auction, the more we will be able to help the families of young men who would like to attend Prep.
If you're interested in suggestions for what to donate, visit our Amazon.com wishlist! You can also check out the items we had at the 2012 Gala by viewing last year's Gala Journal below:
If the journal doesn't display correctly, please click here.
Donations can be made on behalf of an individual, a group, a team, a class, or a business. You can make a monetary donation (or credit card points) in lieu of an actual item, which we will use to purchase hotel rooms, transportation, and other items to complement the items we receive.
We welcome all donations, but we do ask that they be of a minimum $125 Fair Market Value (FMV). FMV is the listed retail cost of the item, or service.
All items can be dropped off at the Special Events Office at Prep (Shalloe Hall, 3rd floor), Monday-Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, or contact Frances Salvo (firstname.lastname@example.org or 201-547-6420) to make special arrangements.
Your creativity will help us make our auction more fun, more exciting and more successful than ever! Use your imagination to come up with a truly special gift. To get the ball rolling, here are some general suggestions...
Electronics: If it keeps you in touch, informed, on time or entertained, it will make a great Gala gift – TVs, game consoles, iPads or other tablets, phones, GPS devices, you name it!
Restaurants: Hey, you have to eat, right? Gala guests will happily bid on your gift certificate to your favorite restaurant, from fine dining to a beer and a burger.
Sports Tickets and Memorabilia: Life is full of important choices: Giants or Jets? Mets or Yankees? Knicks or Nets? Devils or Rangers? (Or Islanders??) – but this is an easy one: your tickets to a college or pro sporting event, or your memorabilia of your favorite player or team will be a slam dunk in the Gala auction!
Theatre or Concert Tickets: Everyone enjoys a night out, and tickets to your favorite play or concert will make it a special evening for the winning bidder.
On the Town: They say you can live your whole life without seeing the sights in your own backyard, but we say why not? Help a lucky bidder be a "tourist for a day" with a harbor criuse, a weekend hotel getaway, a limousine ride, etc.
Party Like a Pro: Just because the Gala has to end doesn't mean the party's over! Invitations, catering, flowers, a music, bartending and whatever else makes a great party also makes a great gift.
Shop 'til you Drop: Share your favorite store with the top bidder by donating a gift certificate...from boutiques to big boxes and everything in between!
Jewelry: Diamonds are a girl's best friend, but pearls, silver and gold are no slouch either. Earrings, bracelets, necklaces, watches for her or him!
Golf: A bad day on the golf course beats a good day in the office. Donate a round on your favorite course and a fellow golfer will happily bid on a new challenge. Throw in lunch to show you are still "a man for others." Golf equipment (clubs, bags, etc) are a hole-in-one, too!
Salons and Spas: A new look can make you feel like a new person...and a trip to a spa (whether it's for an hour or for a week) can do wonders. Pamper the winning bidder – donate a gift certificate to your favorite beauty spot.
Services: Some things are best left to the pros...consider donating music lessons, plumbing services, help from a handyman or advice from an attorney – whatever it takes to help get it done right the first time!
Wines and Spirits: Discerning bidders will raise a glass to your favorite wines, spirits or beers – especially if it's a chance to try something new! Don't forget about the accessories: a wine refrigerator, a kegerator, glassware, etc.
Artwork: Deck the halls and the walls of a lucky bidder's home or office with a framed photograph, a painting, a sculpture...the possibilities are endless.
