Ms. Megan Klim and Mr. Nyugen Smith of Prep's Fine Arts Department, both working Jersey City artists, are organizing the inaugural Metro Arts Summer Institute, an intensive two-week summer studio art program to be held at Prep, July 5-16, 2010. Aiming to fill the role of the former Governor's School for the Arts, which was canceled after the 2008 session due to state budget cuts, the program will provide 15 students from schools throughout Hudson, Bergen and Essex Counties, with instruction both in artistic technique and in career-building skills such as portfolio preparation.
