Prep's summer community reconvened Monday morning following the annual two-week August closing. Though most offices lay dormant during the recess, the operations staff – as well as the crews constructing the new science center – remained hard at work. Later, we'll bring you a walkthrough of the latest construction progress, but for now, here is a look at where things stood just before the break.
Please be advised that most Prep offices will be closed for two weeks following the end of business Friday, August 5. Offices will reopen on Monday, August 22 in preparation for the new school year.
Now in its third year, this annual August closing allows Prep's operations staff time to ensure the campus is ready to welcome students and teachers back in September.
Construction rolls on each day, as Prep's new science center continues to take shape. Several recent developments – notably the large openings that have been cut into the curtain wall along Warren Street – have begun to alter the exterior appearance of the old Burke Hall significantly, making it easier than ever to picture how the new facility will look when complete.
Although Prep's Jesuits are now acclimating to the commuter lifestyle, as Fr. Reiser explains, the commitment of the Society of Jesus to Saint Peter's Prep is as strong as ever. Eight Jesuits will be a part of the Prep faculty in September, giving Prep some of the largest Jesuit presence of any high school in the nation.
Summer assignments for all Prep students can be found on the Academics page of the school website.
