Prep is inviting all alumni in the area to join student and faculty volunteers in taking part in our fall Blood Drive on Wednesday, October 12. The drive, organized in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will take place in the O’Keefe Commons from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On December 31, 2011, the special tax code provision that allows donors to make a tax-free gift from their IRA account to not-for-profit organizations will expire. With belt-tightening on the agenda in Washington, and Congress focused on saving money wherever they can find it, chances are that this provision will not be extended. Donors age 70 1/2 and older have until year's end to take advantage of this opportunity to support Prep (and other charities) while saving on your taxes!
"Back-to-School Night" will take place on Tuesday, October 4, for parents of freshman, and on Thursday, October 6, for parents of sophomores, juniors and seniors. Each program begins at 6:30pm in O’Keefe Commons. There will be a brief presentation followed by classroom visits.
Following the Mass of the Holy Spirit last Friday, the opening honors convocation of the year provided an opportunity to celebrate achievements during the 2010-11 school year, while looking ahead to the opportunities of 2011-12. Honor pins and academic medals were distributed, and students were recognized for their accomplishments in language and scholarship competitions.
Prep's Fall Open House on October 16 is the perfect time to explore our campus, meet students and teachers and find out why young men from 125 different communities in New Jersey and New York choose a Jesuit education in downtown Jersey City! See why students, parents and alumni agree: it's not simply Prep for four years...it's Prep for life!
