Terry Golway, P'14, a professor of history at Kean University and the author of sereral books, including the upcoming Machine Made: Tammany Hall and the Creation of Modern American Politics, presented a lecture in Prep's Hammer Heritage Room Monday.
In November, members of Prep's faculty and staff recalled their personal memories of the assassination of President Kennedy as the basis for a discussion of that dark moment and its aftermath. Four months later, another 50-year milestone is upon us, but this time the memories are decidedly brighter! Ms. Mary Anne McElroy of the history department asked the adults of the Prep community for their recollections of the Beatles' appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, February 9, 1964, an evening that continues to shape our cultural experiences even today.
For 261 young men, the journey of a lifetime is about to begin. With the stroke of a pen and the click of a mouse on Saturday morning, these students, representing communities and grammar schools throughout the region, officially became members of the Saint Peter's Prep Class of 2018.
Prep's Memorial Gymnasium has borne witness to plenty of heroics over its 65 years, and among the banners and accolades that hang on the walls are two lists: Prep Basketball's 1,000-point scorers and Prep Wrestling's 100-match winners. In January, each of these elite groups gained a new member!
Due to the weather, Prep will be closed on Monday, February 3, 2014.
