Join us for our Fall Open House this Sunday, October 5, 1-4 p.m.! It's the perfect time to explore life at Prep, meet current students and parents, get to know our campus and teachers, and discover why it's not just Prep for four years...it's Prep for life!
Prep is proud to announce two groups of academic accolades for our students this week. The College Board has acknowledged 54 students – primarily Class of 2014 graduates, but a few current seniors as well! – as AP Scholars, while two seniors were named Outsanding Participants in the National Achievement Scholarship Program.
On Wednesday morning, six seniors presented the results of their summer scientific research alongside professors at New Jersey City University. Each student displayed his work in a format based on the American Chemical Society standards, and had the opportunity to present it for evaluation to members of Prep's faculty and administration in the Hammer Heritage Room.
Five Prep seniors have been named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program for 2015, based on their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT during junior year. Only about 50,000 students – the top 3% of the approximately 1.5 million students who participate in the National Merit program each year – attain Commended Student status or better.
It's a tradition woven into the very fabric of Jesuit education. For centuries, Jesuit schools and universities around the world have paused at the start of a new academic year to ask the blessing and inspiration of the Holy Spirit along the road that lies ahead. It's fitting, then, that this year's Mass of the Holy Spirit served as the setting for the renewal of Prep's sponsorship agreement with the New York Province of the Society of Jesus.
